I was in a car accident where I was rear-ended by a negligent driver. My car was totaled, I was the mother of a 2 month old and ended up being in so much pain that I wasn't able to take care of him for almost one month. The baby was not in the car with me. Basically now I am trying to write a command letter to the adjuster about the settlement I think I am entitled to... problem is, I don't know how much to ask for.

The medical bills and childcare and some other bills came up to $ 7,000. But how much pain and suffering money do I ask for?

I'd love to hear about other stories.
I am not money hungry! I have spent thousands of dollars for childcare and missed so much time with my newborn child just because this driver negligently hit me! I just happened to be stomped on how much of a settlement I need to ask from the adjuster so I focused my question on that.

This isn't the lottery... you may or may not even be entitled to pain and suffering (generally, you only are entitled to more then medical bills of you are permenantly injured.)

You know how i can tell your money hungry? You expected us to tell you how much money you are entitled to and didn't even mention once what kind of injury you suffered. How can we know what money you may be entitled to if we don't even know your injury?

You are entitled to your medical bills. You are entitled to pain and suffering even if you are not permanently injured. The cost of child care is a talking point in your negotiations.

Anyone who gives you an amount here likely does not know what they are talking about because you have not given enough details to even form a basic guess at a valuation.

What type of injury?
What type of treatment?
How long did you treat?
What jurisdiction are you in?
What would court costs be if you did not or can not settle the claim?

These questions and many other factors go into a valuation. I know this does not answer your question, however you should be very cautious about taking advice from anyone in this arena.
