Sabrina has not spoken to her sister Mary for ever 10 years because of a family dispute. Their mother now become seriously ill and needs to go to a nursing home. Sabrina and Mary agree, through their respective solicitors, to share the cost of the nursing home equally until such time as their mother dies.
After only six months, Sabrina quarreled with Mary and Sabrina refuses to pay any more towards the nursing home bills. Is there a binding agreement between Sabrina and Mary? Explain.

There is a verbal agreement, which can be binding. It depends on two major issues. 1) Is a verbal agreement binding in your State? 2) Was there a witness to the verbal agreement? You indicated solicitors. Could they be willing witnesses? Answer number 1 first, then go from there.
Otherwise, it comes down to a "she said", "she said" arguement.

This one will be really tough ... I suspect by your use of the word "solicitor" you are in England (maybe Australia, India?). If so, you probably really need to add some info, because I suspect your laws are very different than the US and that could get you some really wrong answers.
