what do solicitors do, to earn so much?

I want to be one when i qualify yes.
All i do is write a letter for some poor person, and ask 500 pounds.
I can also represent them in a court case, and charge 200,000 pounds a day.
If they don't have the money, they then get legal aid, which means, JAIL.
EVEN justice seems unfair.
To do the right thing is a better way of putting things, as it seems justice and the law
has a lot to be desired.
Also if you dont have the money when you are ill, DIE.

I sincerely hope you don't become one with an attitude like that to the profession and your future clients. Judging by your articulation and eloquence I doubt you are studying anything although to answer your question solicitors can charge this because such costs are set in accordance with law society and court rules. Furthermore may I add that legal aid most certainly does not automatically mean the loss of a case.
