I started a new job and after I hurt my foot on the job, was told not to return to work. It turned out to be a minor issue anyways, however I am quite upset I lost my job over such an incident. Is there any legal action I can take?
Another thing that worries me is that this is a very large company and, they would not document the incident at all. However I only worked there for 2 1/2 weeks

That sounds bad. It is illegal for them to fire you because of an injury. You need to contact an attorney that specializes in personal injury and worker's compensation and give them the details.

If you were hurt on the job you do have some protection. However, if the employer felt the injury was due to not following procedures or from not using safety measures, you can be fired legally.
However, your medical expenses should be covered.

it is a misconception that you can not be terminated for getting hurt on the job unless it is a union shop and even then it can be done, there is no law that says otherwise
