The Tigers were a shoe-in to make the playoffs by most people before this 1 and 8 start. Now there are skeptics even though most every team to win a World Series has had a stretch this bad or worse. Their stretches were never to begin a season however. No team has ever made the playoffs after an 0-7 start either.

The Tigers aren't playing well yet but I think they have some of the best players in baseball. I not only think they will turn around and make the playoffs, but I think they are a serious contender for the World Series.

I think it's pretty funny seeing the comments above. Honestly, I think they will EASILY make the playoffs. Teamwork has nothing to do with there abilities to play. It's just entering the second week of baseball. Give the players a little time to accumulate to their new atmosphere and wait until Granderson comes back. Detroit's lineup is stacked.

Polanco
Granderson
Ordonez
Cabrera
Sheffield
Guillen
Renteria
Jones
Rodriguez
and Inge

Of course they could...the MLB season is a marathon, not a sprint. If they need inspiration they just need to remember that the 2002 World Champion Angels started the season 6-14.

Who Knows. if they don't pull it together soon a better question will be, who will take Leylands pace after he gets fired?

hell no

When Granderson returns, I think many people will be suprised about how much he brings to the Tiger's lineup. Once the Tiger's can start to get some quality starts out of their starters, and Rodney/Zumaya return, then they will be one of the best teams in the league, if not the best. We all know how good that offense looks on paper, but they just have not delivered yet.
