i've hired a lawyer regarding to a catastrophe claim and found out the insurance company paid the full amount back in January 2010. It is now May 2010 and the lawyer is trying to take additional $ 2000 on top of his commission 33%. Reason being, some additional service is required. When I refused to take the service for $ 2000 (which is my choice and I would rather do it for cheaper from somewhere else) they are not responding to my calls. What should I do? If I report it to the state bar association, will they be able to get my money from the lawyer? Please help

If you signed a contract that states a 33% flat fee, that's it.
If the contract states 'other fees may apply' you are out of luck.
Call your state bar and talk to them about it.

Ignore the guy above...such an agreement would never be allowed....

Contact the bar association...the attorney will react quickly to that.
