laws on divorces, help needed...?

my husband has a few businesses and were getting a divorce....

....can anyone tell me if its worth including them in the settlement? i haven't been to a solicitor yet and although im no money grabber i want to kick him where it hurts..
i don't do any work for the businesses and my name is not on them, infact hes probably taking them out of his name too but i have proof he owns them already due to licenses etc,
anyway, before i go shouting the odds can anyone tell me if i would be wasting my time asking for my share in the divorce settlement or will it just drag things out and cost me more to get sent packing?
we have been married 13 years, he started the businesses 8 years ago but he does have a partner on 1 of them

Did he have the business before you married?
If so then the increase in value of the business might be community property, if he started the business after marriage then the business could be community property.
It does not matter if your name is part of the business.
Talk to an attorney he can get all of your husband's financial information and banking information and he will know what is rightfully yours.
