Hi my granddad died back in 1985, after he died I was at my aunts house (I was 5 at this time) and I remember as clear as day her telling me that he had left me some money… I asked her if I would be able to buy a horse and she laughed and said I would be able to buy 2 horses and a house…!!! Wow I thought.
Well a short time after this we never head anything from my aunt and then all of a sudden my mother told me that my aunt had changed solicitors were the will was originally made, they when to question this with my aunt and my uncle and basically was pushed through the door and told to get lost and that they was no money…?
Well my aunt was not working as she was a stay at home mother and my uncle worked as a welder in the steel works. They lived in a normal 3 bed semi nothing special but then a few months after this the house was put on the market and they moved into a massive 4 bed detached… with my uncle still only working at the steel work and my aunt not working they spent money on holidays to Florida (2x a year) new cars…etc
I'm now nearly 30yrs old and my grandmother is pretty wealthy she re married after my grandfather died but now he's died too and she is on her own now at the age of 77.… many people as me to as my grandmother what happened to all this money but I don't feel I want to upset her are put her in a awkward position.
It's difficult as I'm not sure of my granddads last name and my mother carnt remember it…. We don't know what solicitor was used or what it was changed too. All I know is that is name was Neville and he went to Jerusalem and hung him self in a hotel back in 1985/1986 after suffering form long term depression. He was a coach driver or tourist guide on a coach who worked in Sheffield and London… Not much to go by but that's all I have…
I am worried that my aunt my play the same trick again as I am not familure with wills and probate and now my grandmother is at a tender age of 77 and is quite wealthy I don't know what to do, say or ask…?
Since my aunt did this she as never been close to me although she is my god parent… she as snubbed me and never tried to make any contact with me… This plays on my mind a lot as you can imagine as I now have a daughter of my own and I feel that they have possibly spent mine and my daughter inheritance and I don't have a clue what to do to find out…? ;0(

LOL ! this is like deja vous....im not laughing at you im laughing at the similarity in your circumstances with my own. Five years ago my mother died of brain cancer. She literally lost her mind before she died and was taken advantage of by a "friend" who only knew her for a few years before her death. Eight years before her passing she and two of her brothers sold a farm for 1.3 million$ Aside from that she owned 3 new vehicles, a house, and a fifth wheel. Where is all of it? Heck if I know. I contacted the attorney general to answer questions about misappropriation of funds. She strongly advised me to get a personal attorney-who can afford that? I then contacted Scott County attorney Patrick Ciliberto and again he advised me to get an attorney. Best advise I can give you is hire an investigator to collect information like death certificate, will and testament, probate files, etc. Then if in fact there was a misappropriation of funds then you have to hire an attorney. I hope it works out for you as it did not work out for me. The friend of my mom's that I mentioned above got everything my mom owned then gave my mom's house to her own son. The house was supposed to be used to pay off my mom's hospital bills while the money from the farm was to go to us kids but since the executor of the estate did not like us kids she used the farm money to pay my mom's hospital bills and like I said before, gave my mom's house to her kid.
