I know a missionary that was struck by another car while driving with his pastor. This man was injured ,he was sent to the hospital and he has Sciatica in his left leg that goes down to his ankle ,,then he also suffers from ringing of the ear it s calledTinnitus.Due to his religious beliefs he does not want to undergo surgery and has decided to see a Doctor that praictices Holistic medicine .He believes that he will be healed one day through Holistic medicine .His medical bills are really high ,and the other person insurance company wants him to continue his medcal treatment ,Can he legally refuse ,and still receive compensation for his damages.
A person refusing medical treatment due to religious reasons???Can this be so.

The insurance company will use his refusal to see an MD as proof that he was not injured. He will likely lose any lawsuit.

No, because the insurance company will deny any claims, and the defendant would be able to say, well he didn't think it was even bad enough to get help, so it's not a big deal and it's his own fault. Stop trying to play the system for money and get a job.

There are non-surgical treatments for sciatica and tinnitis. If he already has high medical bills, how did he incur them? He has to continue to follow the recommendations of doctors as far as his treatment, otherwise he will be short-changing his case and not receive the full amount he should. Holistic medicine is crap. It won't undo his negative conditions if trauma caused them.

Yeah you have the right to say no to medical treatment ,I have heard of Jehova Witnesses dying for not receiving a blood transfusion and many Pentacostal churches have members that believe in healing from god and willnot visit hospitals. So my answer is Yes you have the right to say no to medical treatment there is nothing scammish about that at all.Its his life he can do what he wants with it.

It depends on the injury and how you have logged the incident from occurance to your current state and its effect on your ability to do a job! 1st of all in general your talking a minimum of 2yr litigation in court. Do not for any circumstance tell the lawyer that! Overall unless it really is a dibilitating injury its not worth the trouble any more. Too many people have come up with lawsuits and industries have come up with the answers. First you have to be off work. Second most companies have workmans comp insurance which only pays 1/4 of your wages if the injury occures at work or while performing a job task.. Depending upon the state the injury occured in you'll have to use state disability which is also only 1/4 of your current wage. When that is gone workmmans comp kicks in and when thats gone or not part of the equation you are eligible for Social Security disability (maybe)!!. By this time you've racked up bills and and loss of wages. If you have an attorney and have been back and forth to the Doctors office 20 or 30 times by now. You may get compensation by winning a lawsuit. Usually the buisiness will settle out of court and the attorney gets 33 1/3% so you have to make sure it covers your bills, loss of wage and new training for a new job. If the injury doesn't happen at work then you have to bear the cost and wait! keep records of the doctor visits, get copies of medical x-rays and your hospital records which will cost you! Hopefully the insurance is still covering you!Ultimately you can get it all covered in the suit then of course you have to find another means of income..a new vocation. Now your insurance should cover most of the cost but without a remedy to the solution if there is one you have to prove the effect on your life will keep you to limited future earnings. You won't be able to collect future effects because it may be curable and basiclly its your choice to accept or not. So to answer your question only up to a point and thats dependant upon how good your lawyer is!
