Your local Veteran's Administration Office should be able to help you with most of your concerns, but I'll warn you now...it is a lengthy process if you don't have your DD-214. But even if that's the case, the VA is the best place to start retrieving one. Tip: when you get another DD-214, register it with your local courthouse so you don't have to go through that nightmare again. Your home loan guarantee, educational benefits and all types of important things (security clearances, etc.) are contingent (or at least linked) to that DD-214.
