My parked car was hit on xmas day, no one hurt. I've got a courtesy car and will probably need to buy a new car. I'm employed so I am salaried but I will have to take a day off to go and get the new car. What out of pocket expenses can I claim for?
Answer by CD2007
Nothing. It doesn't seem as if you will have any out of pocket expenses.

In certain cases, you would be able to claim loss of earnings. Ask and ye shall (maybe) receive

None.
You have a rental car -so no loss of use claim.
Your car is either going to be repaired or deemed a total loss. Either way, the insurance company will pay to fix it or pay for the cars actual cash value.
Many car dealers are open on evenings and weekends. You can also do a lot of car shopping on line - again: nights, weekends, your lunch break.
If you choose to take a day off to purchase a new car....then that is your choice and the insurance company will not pay for your lost wages.
You have no out of pocket expenses to claim for.

Since you're a salaried employee, you won't have lost wages anyway if you did take a day off to buy a new car.
