I have had four days off sick this January and my employer who I thought valued me has deducted my salary and now I have to increase my loan to cover my living costs. I work as a secretary/receptionist for solicitors in South West England in a medium size town. I do not take a lot of sick leave but as I am 47 I feel under the weather more often than when I was in my twenties and thirties. I sent the boss a message saying I would look for another job as I did not feel valued to be penalised for being sick. Have not had an answer yet ....

Does your job offer Vacation Pay. Many jobs will let you use your Vacation pay to cover sick leave.
