I was in a minor car accident, I was a passenger, we drove into a ditch, there was no other car involved. I have serious whiplash and I was wondering if i put a personal injury claim in, will it affect the drivers insurance, he is a good friend and I don't want his insurance to go up or for him to be affected in any way by me making a claim. Is this possible?

If they have protected no claims bonus then there will be no effect.
Otherwise the claim is a claim so the driver would not qualify for a no claims status.

Perhaps the driver has had to pay to fix the car. If so they may have already involved the insurer and your claim would not break the no claims duck.

The driver has an obligation to report the incident to the insurer which will have some effect on the no accidents issue - some insurers count this as a claim and others take the incident with no claim into account when setting premiums.

You have 3 years to raise a claim. It is important to be able to prove you were injured in the incident if you change your mind in future. If you have whiplash seek medical help, this will create a record of what happened for you.

Yes, it does. Whether it's a Bodily Injury or Occupant Bodily Injury claim. Your friend is at fault for the accident and your injuries.

If you need medical attention then that is why that person has insurance.there negligent you
do not just drive in to a ditch and if there are your friend then your well being is the most
important.
