My friend stole 2 dog tags in H&M in the UK and he got caught and i was with him. the security said he would call our parents but he never did. the only details he took was name, address and date of birth. he asked for ID, but didnt want mine only my friends, but my friend didnt have any. the guy also mentioned getting sued or something. he gave us this form he filled out at the bottom saying we MAY get sued for costs of stuff from some solicitors and that we're banned. but then he made my friend pay for it £9. they let us walk out on our own.
i wanna know if theyll send a letter home? will they still fine us even after they made my friend pay? will i get fined? if we do get fined whre would we have to pay the fine? and if they send us a fine can i pretend the details are wrong since they never confirmed it with me or took any ID?
they didnt take a picture either.
btw were both 16

What it sounds like to me, is that the security person wanted to scare you guys at doing this. Shoplifting costs the store money. What I think will happen is when he was mentioning about you "maybe getting sued", I think what this means is that if you attempt to go into the store again, then they will lay that onto you, and that they would carry that action out on you. Stay well away from that store, and do NOT go to any subsidaries of that company as well. I would look carefully to ensure that there are no other companies that are associated with this company, as there are some companies that are run by the same security agency/company. I would also tell my parents as well. Also, consider talking with a lawyer, as many lawyers will give a first consultation first, and show them the form. They will be able to tell you what sort of steps to take, or to tell you the interpretation of this form. Please take this as a lesson, and do NOT try any stuff that could put you in jeopardy of getting into trouble again.
I hope that this helps you.
