Carmax sold me a 1997 Ford Explorer and they claim that they do a 125 point inspection of all their vehicles before they buy them to sell on their lots. This inspection is supposedly to determine if the vehicle has been in an accident and to see if there is any frame damage. Fortunately i have not had any problems with the frame but the electrical system is fried. When i changed insurance a few months back my agent had told me my vehicle has been in two accidents and told me the pay outs from the insurance companies were over $ 200,000.00 each time. You would think a car dealership would know these things and would be obligated to tell the consumer. Then again i was the naive one.

Read the Carmax guarantee and see if they were required to check for clean title, or do a title search, or a VIN search or any of the above. Then, check to see if anywhere in the paperwork they had, they indicated that they had done this and it was not listed as "Rebuilt" or "Accident" or any such thing.

you have to ASK them, lot of times they dont have to tell you if you dont ASK. allways do your homework and ASK the right questions

Answer by stratosman
in texas they have to disclose this information if they know. with things like car fax for example it would almost be impossible not to know the vehicles history.
