We found a blue-eyed siamese cat. We've put up posters around the neighborhood for a day and a night already, but no one has claimed her yet. We can't keep her anymore. Is it possible to turn her in to an adoption center or call an animal shelter without paying any fees?

Technically yes, call them up and tell them you found a stray kitten. They'll send out an officer to pick it up (this is for humane society/SPCA).

Hi,
I'm sure a shelter would take her if you explain that you found her. If she is a siamese it's very possible she is microchipped and they can scan her there. The odds are someone is looking for her.
If you are financially unable to give a donation don't worry,,you did a very good deed by helping the cat in the first place!

Yes, the big problem is whether they have space. Try calling your local vets too to see if they have any clients that match her description. They may be able to trace the owners.

You won't pay a fee for a found cat. Ask the shelter if they have a listing for a lost Siamese. Also, look in the newspaper or put a found add in the pet section. These are free in most newspapers.

Maybe there is something else you can give them that they could use? Like a bag of cat food, or blankets, towels, newspapers, cat litter, cat carriers, or extra cat bowls that you do not use. Or you can ask them if you can only give them $ 10 or $ 5, even if it is not much it is better than nothing. You can also follow up with doing some volunteer work. It takes a lot of money to take care of all the animals and many shelters depend on donations and help from the community. Unfortunately some shelters have even closed due to a lack of donations.

the one who lost the pet and is taking it back must pay. once our tortoise escaped so someone found it and gave to a shelter and we payed for it being kept there for one day.
