I was hit by a semi-truck (18 wheeler) almost 5 years ago to date. I am suing them for damages. I am disabled from the accident with nerve damage in my right arm, neck and back. I was just awarded my Federal disability three months ago and am now 34 yrs old and classified disabled by the government. I was under the notion that with this, my larger law suit would end. Due to the fact it is so hard to get disability, this would be the 'nail in the coffin' so to speak. My auto accident lawyer told me that 99% of all cases when Fedral Disability is awarded end shortly after. He called me to tell me congrats on my winning verdict, but I haven't heard from him since. I have called numerous times, only to be pushed to voicemail and ignore. How do I get him to tell me what is going on? Isn't 5 years quite a long time for a law suit of this nature? (Note: I was not at fault- stopped, waiting to turn when I was struck and taken up the road attached to his truck).
Please help.

Edit: I AM disabled due to the injuries I SUSTAINED IN THE ACCIDENT!!! I was not injured in any way before EVER! And how would you propose I get a new lawyer? I would still be liable to pay this one for ALL services rendered so far. How would you suggest I do this? My magic money tree?

Receiving disability does not end anything. It means one federal agency agrees you are disabled. That does not mean the court accepts that, nor does it prove that this is related to the accident, nor does it prove liability or fault.
If you are unhappy with your lawyer, consider getting a new one. But don't necessarily expect that he has any answers yet.
