A no win no fee group set up an account in my name to persue a legal matter on my behalf. The company no longer exists, the case was never persued but the account remained open and as a result interest has been added each month for approx 3 years. The account is in my name,I have an account no.and sort code and no way of knowing if I am legally entitled to it.

Contact the bank. You may be entitled as long as the account wasn't set up with strings attached.

I would think if the account was set up in your name, that you would have legal rights to it.
I would contact a lawyer. Many lawyers will give out some free advice over the phone if they think there is potential for a case. Use the free advice, and then decide what to do.

I would just go to the bank and ask to withdraw the money and close the account. The worst they can do is say that you don't have access to it. Then, you can start worrying about lawyers and such.

I agree with the suggestions to go to the bank first and see if you can withdraw the money. But, I have one additional suggestion. If the bank says you can't withdraw the funds, ask them what needs to be done for you to gain access to the funds since the account is in your name. No need to go to a lawyer at this point. The bank will certainly have the information on what's required (otherwise, they'll just let you withdraw the funds).
