Make some more signs, bigger ones. Put one by the doorbell. Put something like, you wake my baby, you might wish you hadn't. Do not let them know what your husband's hours are.

My husband worked nights when my youngest was a baby and I had the same problem. I finally made a big sign for the front door that said " If you value your life you will turn around and leave BEFORE knocking or ringing the doorbell".
I have a "No Solicitors" sign on my door now, but it doesn't stop them all. They all have an excuse as to why they rang the door bell to offer me (not to sell) a good deal. I just point at the sign, shake my head, and shut the door. I'm no more rude than the idiot that rang the bell......

I have a Do Not Disturb sign on my door and so far people have honored it. If they don't, refusing to answer the door is not an option with a sleeping baby and husband. Answer it and tell them you are sorry but your husband is upset at being waked by the doorbell and please observe the sign. And you can add that you do not discuss your religious beliefs with strangers or make purchases at your home. It isn't wise to let some salespeople even think that you may possibly have cash on the premises. You know nothing about someone who just shows up at your door even though most are probably legit.

My father used to talk to them in Polish. Most door to door solicitors and religious groups that knock on your door (you know who you are) don't speak Polish. One day a couple Jehovah's Witnesses came to the door and my Dad said something in Polish. The people left because of course they couldn't speak Polish. I asked my Dad what he said to them and he replied "My mother doesn't have any underwear".
