I have worked in retail for 13 years, but have just been made redundant. I would love to do something different like secretarial work, pa, or admin ect.
I have been head hunted by a legal solicitors firm who are really keen to arrange to interview me and i would love to get this job so much. I have been with my company for 8 years and am clueless about interviews.
Can anyone out there offer me any tips or advice on how to land the job i would love?

Make sure you have the hard skills (typing etc) for the admin type job. When you go in the interview they may ask you specific questions regarding things that are more administrative. Instead of saying you haven't done that, think of an experience in retail that has been similar.
You can also point out, when appropriate that you have been promoted because of your diligence, and you want to bring that ability to be loyal to another company while learning something new.
Talk to the head hunter, ask them what is appropriate to wear to the interview. When you get there stay calm, don't get too excited and don't act desperate.
Finally, when you have been with a job for so long, it's easy to move for the wrong reasons. So make sure you arm yourself with tough questions to ask the interviewer. Ask about company retention, how many people are training for promotions, why were they interested in meeting with you, things like that.
If you really like the company but didn't get the job, it's okay. It takes a while sometimes to land the dream job. Just keep finding companies that are similar and submit your resume/CV.
Good luck!

If you're looking for admin type work, I would advise applying to your own city. Cities usually have lots of admin jobs.
Also, look into temp agencies. Tell them what you're looking for and they'll usually set you up with an admin-type job. If you do good, that company you're temping for might go ahead and hire you. Good luck!
