Yes, most individuals have a certain amount under there homeowners policy. I have a $ 2,000,000 umbrella policy that is specifically for worst case issues and would protect me for general liability and excess amounts over what my normal homeowners or auto insurance covers.

Yes. I have an umbrella liability policy for $ 1 million, which takes effect only after my home and/or auto liability policy limits have been exhausted. Best part is that it's cheap, only about $ 300 per year. At my age and with my net worth, I don't want to start over.
