I was admitted to the Urology ward due to increasing pain passing urine and some extreme pain from my left kidney. They ran some tests and afer the second day they found that i had a kidney and a bladder stone. They organised me to have an operation to remove them and so they put me on the urgent waiting list. I was told this could be around 3 weeks wait so i recieved a doctors sick note for this time. I didnt hear anything at all from them about my op in this time, so i went back to them and asked what the situation was and they said nothing's been sorted yet. So i had to get another sick note to cover me for the next 3 weeks. 6 weeks since my admission and still no news, the money from my job (working for another local hospital) has been slowly becoming less and less while the pain and discomfort has become more and more. After calling secretaries, service managers and the occupational health staff they've all dropped the ball and here i am at now 11 weeks without working, in October i'll be recieving no pay at all. I'm still yet to recieve word from anyone. On one phone call to the service manager she said i'd been put on the inpatient waiting list when i should be on the out patient one, she said i should be hearing something from them in 24 hours, it's now 5 days later and when i try to call her back, it goes straight to answer phone. All i want is to be back in my job earning money ready for christmas, i've already had to put off buying a new car because of this. How do i claim and would i get compensation?
I've still not had my operation, i want the money back that i've lost so far and the money i'll continue to lose till they've sorted it out. I'll see after the operation if they're time wasting mess ups have caused me extra damage.
On my TTO letter they said they were gonna do lasertripsy with the camera into my bladder, zap the stone into pieces and extract then move on up into my kidney, sounds painful, i really hope they put me to sleep for it. That is, when they get round to seeing me. Thanks for your concern and for reading my lengthy story lol

1)You must show the standard of medical care was poor

2) That injury or harm resulted from this

we never heard of being put on a waiting list for stones.they usaually burst them up with sonic waves and you just then pass them when you pee.

This is way bad.You need the operations asap. And the NHS should compensate you during this absurd waiting period. Why does this take so long?
I agree with Tracy:sound waves can break down the stones and you can pee them out.
But what happened?
You were on the urgent list and they changed that:check the social services in the hospital and complain about it:they might help you.
Wishing you all the best:Colors

It is unlikely you will get any compensation.

Go back and see your GP. He is in the best position to get things moving for you.

Alternatively, since you work in the NHS go to see your HR department and ask if they can get any sense out of the hospital where your operation is due to be done.
