There are time limits. It depends on what state you live in what the limit is. Most employers require that an injury is reported immediately, and if the injury was not reported then the employer will have a strong defense against paying any workers compensation claims. I think in most states a claim can be brought within a year, but this issue is very state specific so you will have to find out what the law is for your state.

Absolutely there are statute of limitations. Workers' Compensation is generally state-specific, so you will have to check your own state to see what is the specific statute of limitations.
The statute of limitations is designed to protect employers from facing liability for an extended period of time after employment. Business need some certainty in that they are not unfairly exposed for years on end. Additionally, there becomes a proof problem years down the road.

You would have a problem if you try to make a claim and did not immediately report the injury when it happened. All the posters you see in workplaces tell you the ways you must handle filing a claim. If your company has a handbook, the procedures are contained in it.

You're sort of asking how much can you exceed the speed limit without the cops pulling you over.
Any injury, no matter how seemingly trivial, should be reported immediately.
