I'm selling a property and the Solicitor seems to be taking a merry time over getting the legal work finished. I understand that he in turn has to wait on others but I have been phoning him week in week out for two months or more now when I was originally told that because it was only a small property it wouldn't take long and the buyer was very keen to complete.

Every time I phone the Solicitor seems to have a ready (and new) excuse, yet I asked him if it was likely to be this side of Christmas as I was having to find a place to rent in the short term. If I'd rented when he'd intemated then I would have paid two months rent so far for nothing, while the sale property lay empty!

It's got to a rediculous stage where I feel guilty for bothering him!

Having sold only one other property before this behaviour seems to be nothing but typical, but does anyone know what I can say to motivate him as my pleas don't seem to have any concern at all?

The property may have other liens or the Solicitor may be dealing with more complex cases requiring his time.
