Okay so I love to play Soul Calibur IV along with other fighting games but mostly SCIV. When I play online you've got your people who have mad skills, the ones who've got skill, normals, and noobs. Then you've got these others. The one who like to use the same move over and over and over so you can't block, counter, dodge, or get out of. You know what I'm talking about. When you were a kid you called them the Same Movers.

Example. Say you going aginst someone and they keep hitting one button over and over. There is no room for you to attack and the moment you counter your right back in that same situation. You could duck and hit but wait, they have that one too. If you block for too long they duck, and do the same 1 hit move. And then they win and claim they are better than everyone. I tried to explain this to my parents and sisters but they say "Well they are just doing what they have to to win."

I'm okay with loosing to someone who beat me fair and square, but to someone who just hit Y the whole time or grabbed me through the whole fight I find it retarted.

So my question is, its that it cheating, or unsportsmanlike. My dad says its unsportsman, I say cheating.

If you can do something in the game, without violating any rules, then it can't be cheating.
I'd say it's unsportsmanlike.

Its kinda pathetic but not really unsportsmanlike or cheating. When they would rather mash one move just so that they can claim a win against someone they don't know it is a little unnecessary and pointless. Claim the moral high ground that you have exercised more ability.

E.G. is it really winning if you have a competition 'Who can run for the longest?' and one person runs 3 times faster but for 1 minute less???

I wouldn't even say it's unsportsmanlike because it's online. If it was actually like progressing towards a prize or something that'd be different. It took me ages to get over the fact people do cheap things to win. That's how it is now a days, people will do whatever it takes to win. Wouldn't you? It's something to sit down and I guess think about, but not too hard. SC 4 has a lot of cheap characters like Cervantes's constant teleportation. I just know characters and timing wise for impacts so I pretty much have everything down to a pulp now and those "noobs" can't harm me. =p

The same thing happens to me sometimes, I play Mortal Kombat 2 with him on the ps3 and he does the same moves over and over again (the ones that I can't jump over or crouch under). I'd say it's unsportsmanlike and annoying, it's not cheating if they aren't typing in a code or hacking or something.

The NHL games are filled with people using the same moves to score goals. In those games we call it "glitch goals".

All they really do is ruin the fun of the game

unsportsman like conduct i like how that sounds, but i been calling them cheaters for as long as i can remember. Especially the ones who claim beginners luck. Even though a win is a win, Madden says "its in the game" I now say cheating is in the rule books. So go figure. Oh my apologies for the confusion ive learned it is unwise to get mad i now get even. i fight fire with fire. as cheesy as it is there are wins that come rather easier than others, one buttons grabs, etc. what i mean to say is if you caught a win using the same tactics would you beat yourself up about it. try it see how you like it. anyway im like you its cheating to me also but unsportsmanlike conduct is more politically correct.

I call those players "2-Button Wonders" which isn't too hard to figure out why. If you can undermine their strategy within the first match, you'll be pretty safe. I recommend using fake-out fire moves and mix up your strategy with various different combos. That throws off their concentration. Also, stay away from edges.

I do find it a shame that players will sink to any level to win. I call it unsportsmanlike because they aren't literally hacking into the game. But I try to best them in an honest match and keep dragging them back to the center of the stage with my Cervantes. I do this to keep comboing and juggling them until they're defeated.

I don't mind the methods of their victory, even if it is spam and ring-outs. But the mockery of your efforts to win is what grinds my gears mostly. I take off the handicap and make my combos longer and just-frame more frequently if I see any overkilling.
