How old is my electric circuit?

We are selling our flat and the buyers solicitor has asked the age of the electicity circuit and wiring. How can I find out?

They really want to know if it is two wire system or a three wire system. and also how many amps your place is wired for. look at your breaker box at the main breaker normally at the top it should say 100 amps or something like that. when your give them an 'age' it may tell them this but I think that is a lame question and more detail is needed of what they are looking for.

goto the city permit office and see if a electrical permit was taken out . any type of wiring in my city needs a permit

Write down the model# the make of the panel and the breaker # size, if it's 100amp or 125amp 30years no more than 35years old if it's glass twist fuses it's 40years plus if it's pull style cartridge style 35-45 years.
