Hi!
I desperately need some advice. I recently finished college and ever since have been trying to find a job. I've tried everything. I've given out countless CV's to stores, businesses, solicitors... you name it. I've trawled through job websites and applied by email to countless places. I've tried getting into an apprenticeship and I haven't heard anything back from that yet either, and it's been months. I originally wanted admin work or an apprenticeship in admin, but now I'm just desperate and would even like to just work in a coffee shop or a supermarket, or a high street store. However, despite my hard trying, not even those are taking on. I really need to find something though because being stuck in with no money is driving me mad. It really is awful because I need to be doing something with my time, and it's also embarrassing when people ask what you're doing and you can only answer honestly with, "nothing". I'm not a lazy person, that's the thing. I just can't find any work at all. I'm even considering going back to college and doing another course, just for something to do!

I'm considering selling my body on the street corners. What do you think? (Just kidding :P)

Anyway, I'd love your advice. Thanks a lot.
Danny.

You are looking for work at a time when the job market is going through a very rough patch. Unemployment is now close to 9% and the economy has shed more than 5 million jobs since December 2007. Unfortunately, it is going to be a while before companies and stores start hiring again.

This is a great time to consider going to a college, because you really need a college degree to be able to earn a decent living. If that is not an immediate option, at least take some classes that you might find useful later on. You could also volunteer for a non-profit or community group or local hospital, etc. Good Luck.
