no win no fee accidents
by RSNY

When I was 4 years old I was in a car accident and my parents had a settlement with the drunk drivers insurance and recieved 100,000 dollars for me. At such a young age I didnt really know what was going on and they told me that it had to be put up till I was 18 and I couldnt have it. Well that money is no longer there and I am now 20. As I grew up they told me that it all just went to lawyer fees but obviously I am old enough now to know better. I found out from other family members that they just blew it. I am now married and have three month old baby and I could have used that money to help get a house for us or help with the financial problems that come with being a new parent or newlywed. Should I sue them to get what was mine to begin with and if so how do I go about it and what are the chances that I will win?

I don't think you have a chance at all of winning that case. You can't prove that they didn't spend that money on you while you were growing up.

Answer by JaeLei
if the money is LEGALLY yours, then yes, sue them.
they had/have no right to blow it.
that mony shoulda went to your "college" fund.

Yes, sue. Because hard work can't get you a house. It's a shame what people would do for money.

I'd say you could. I'd even say you should if you feel your case is a strong one. Was the money 100% for you?

I don't think it's very fair that they benefitted from a bad thing that happened to you and you get nothing

If they have that much money to be sued for and you dont ever want to speak to them again Sure. But remember - It costs 200,000 to raise a child from birth to 18. You better find a damn good lawyer.

Answer by bombproofgirl
why was the accident just for you. surely they were in the accident too? just be lucky that you are still alive. you didn't have it to begin with so what difference does it make?

Answer by doNni
yes, you must file a civil case for that....

Your parents can and will show that it was used to support you for 18 years.
Pooof, all gone.

You go to an attorney.

BUT, if they don't have any money, you are not going to get it back.

If you did get the money, you would no longer have parents to visit or for your child to grow up with.

Think twice before you do this. And remember that money was spent on your food, clothing, roof over your head, vacations, school expenses.
