Just wanted to ask if someone was awarded money from claimed damages, how much is a typical Lawyer fee?

Answer by kckid2
Each case is a separate negotiation. I/3 rd to the lawyer is common.

Whatever they agreed to in the contract they signed with the lawyer when they hired the lawyer period.

If you hire a lawyer, they will have you sign a agreement to retain them. This agreement will state either if this is contingency (meaning they get paid if you prevail, or nothing if you lose), or if this is on an hourly rate of such and such.

If hourly fee, then you get all the claimed damages but could still owe for fees that exceed your retainer when hired. If contingency, then the standard is 1/3, but if lawsuit is filed, then the standard is 40%. For anything to exceed that, most likely from a law firm that does a lot of advertising and they "up" their percentage to cover the high costs of advertising.

The best lawyers out there will never advertise since they don't have to, since all of their business is repeat customers or from referrals of those past clients to other people of their success.
