i work in a solicitors office, 5 days a week, from 7am till 12.30pm. My husband drops off my son at nursery at 9am and picks him up at 1pm, by which time i am usually home, and my husband goes back to work.

This is causing problems at my husbands work. Ideally i would like to change my hours so i start later and finnish later. As there is no reason for me to start work so early (it was an arrangement i canme to with my employer after my sone was born).

So is there any reason why my employer would have to allow me to change.....or reasons why they would refuse??? Thanks for the help.

PS i live in UK

The change may not suit the company where you work. If it did, they would have changed them for you. The only other reason is that they are being spiteful. You seem to have no options, but to find another job with more flexible hours, or just keep doing what you are doing now. Good Luck!

Legally they have to con cider any request because of the child should they refuse to change your hours they are obliged to give written notice justifying any reasons. Hope this helps.
