Try the claim they will most likely not even ask for it. It is their fault that they insured an unlicensed driver. You are wrong too but learn a lesson from this. You may want to read the fine print on your policy.

I strongly suspect that not having a license or CBT has invalidated your insurance. So read the small print before you tell them.

Assuming you're going to do the hard work yourself or through your own lawyer, the first thing to ask is was this on a public road? You need to find out who's responsible for the road and therefore pothole and go from there...

Carefully measure and photograph the pothole, otherwise they might just fill it and deny all knowledge!

Are there any witnesses, or CCTV, etc?
