One of the sellers requirements is that we have to exchange contracts before the 1st of March, we want to negotiate the price by lowering it by £650 to cover the costs for sorting out the damp problem. This is the amount we have been quoted by a professional to do the job. Now, do we do this through the solicitors or should we call the estate agents ourselves to let them know? i have emailed the solicitors about it but no response as yet.

You can offer anything you want.....depends on how badly you want the house...go for it...but go through the Agent because they work for the seller..
Do you have a agreed offer allready?
good luck
