I never answer my door when someone unexpected rings my doorbell. However I still wonder who they are and what they want. What are some signs to let me know that it is a salesperson or solicitor of some sort? How do you keep them from coming back?

Yes continue to ignore them. 9 times out of 10 there trying to sell or get information either way your not interested so if you ignore them they will move on. If its someone of importance or wish to have a meeting with you they would contact you first. So if your not expecting someone you know just dont' answer or I have seen some houses carry stickers thats say no solicitation or sales people.
