I got in a car accident and have not had time to file a claim is there a time limit, im with state farm and its only been a day.

your supposed to call the police at the scene of the accident.

its a good idea to file as soon as possible, especially if someone is hurt, keep in mind, the dmv also needs to be notified especially if someone is hurt, within 3 days in oregon, your state may be different, but if the damage is over a specified amount, the dmv may look at this and possibly suspend your license for none compliance. Find out the law in your state, asap. cover your butt, so there are no possible suspensions at a later date. best of luck, hope no one was hurt.

It's good to file as soon as possible, but there's no real time limit. If you wait, say a year, they may question it. But if you call this week, you'll be just fine.
