The subject is law of contract.The question is: payment of a sum less than that due does not discharge the original contractual obligation.this is why the courts have gone to the extraordinary lengths to provide the person who has paid the lesser sum with some form of protection.but this protection is heavily circumscribed. Discuss please.

If you breach a contract by failing to pay the full amount due, but pay a lesser amount due, the damages suffered by the non breaching party are generally limited to the unpaid balance. It's uncontroversial...
