My husband and I have been separated for many years and are finally sorting our divorce. He has agreed to me keeping the house, in which I live with our 3 children. My solicitor has asked me to have the house valued for the court but I have been in therapy for a lot of anxiety issues and OCD relating to the house- the thought of having to allow someone in to value it fills me with absolute horror!
After speaking to an estate agent he informed me, that it would also cost me around £300 for the valuation- money my ex-to-be and I simply don't have to spend. If we both agree on a value, is it still necessary to get an agent to confirm it?

Thank you for any advice you may be able to give.
Btw. I live in the UK. :)

If both parties agree on a value, and you agree to use that value for purposes of your divorce, you do not have to have it appraised. Don't let your solicitor create issues in your divorce if you and your husband can resolve them fairly and amicably.

In Michigan, if you agree on the value then that is the figure you use. He may be worried that your future ex will change his mind after the ball gets rolling.
