Im going to be a junior after this summer vacation ends (I'm 16). I want to be a lawyer when I grow up, and I have since I can remember (and I have an excellent memory). I want to have as much experience around law and lawyers as I can and Id prefer working around it, even if just to get the experience, more than working at a fast food restaurant or similar places to my peers for money. Is there any chance of me getting something to do with all my time at a small, local, law office, or would preparing an application and resumé be a stupid waste of my time? I can interview well, and I feel that if I can get the chance to make a good first impression and get to meet my employer they would definitely realize I wouldn't just be a waste of time. Have you ever heard of this kind of thing? Any tips would be appreciated, and I have experience with mock trial and understand how things go down in court, but I want to see the other end of things. Also, I've talked to several attorneys and judges at the courthouse when I've gone there for mock trial, this is something I really am serious about. Thanks for your help!

I think that sounds incredible!!

Wow! Good for you. I'm sure with your goal oriented personality they would love to have you.
Your responsibilities I'm guessing would be clerical, administrative and you would be considered more of an assistant and possibly unpaid (but I'm not sure). If you have friends or parents of friends that work within the business it would help and be a great way to network. Try offering help at a local law office or company where you live because it helps to be familiar with the area, and your co-workers will then get to know you more.

If you do have a chance to interview and perhaps just even have a moment to talk with someone who works there be assertive (which you seem like you are), be honest with your goals/intentions (have integrity) and ask a lot of questions! Show your interest and enthusiasm. Attitude and enthusiasm is honestly 90% of the first impression. Firm handshake as well :)
