I work part time and have a young child. Is there an access to law course which i could study from home. My long term career aim is to become a solicitor. Any recommendations. thank you.

Hi this is what i would like to be 2,i have studied for a year at uni am on a break now.Have you tried ics or open univerisity for home based learning as i have heard from friends that they are very good.It will be hard work but if you are motvated and determined to suceed you will get there,be positive and go for it!!

I assume you're either in the UK or in Canada (or in one of the nations in which the UK was sovereign over at some point in its history [because of the use of the word 'solicitor']). Before you start taking ANY online courses, you need to check the jurisdiction in which you intend to practice law to find out its requirements and then determine whether any of these online courses meet the requirements and are authorized (either under the Canadian Bar Association or the Law Society in the UK)...for most jurisdictions, I believe that online courses are not acceptable (unless you go to an unaccredited school that is still authorized in your jurisdiction to provide degrees and then you are still allowed to take the bar examination).

Except for California - and a few other states in the US - which allow correspondence school and/or study in a law office / judge's chambers - I do not know of any jurisdiction which will allow online classes in the study of law...
