good luck uhaul sucks had a similar problem. They have that 800 number and get a lawyer if they fusk with ya right away and once they get a letter they will resolve it. Get your chit out rent a penske truck and add it to your bill for uhaul. Do not let them pull the too heavy excuse
you should take any pics you can and obtain all documentation you can and have them sign it also so your both in agreement if they dont then they cant do anything to your lawyer comes out also get your insurance company involved to pressure them or if you have aaa have them be involved the more people with big pull the better. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! even if the insurance guy wants you too...if all else fails call the better buisness berau and have them file a claim. Good luck and boycott uhaul!!!shizters

IN THE FIRST PLACE, WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE CONTENTS IN THE TRUCK IN THE TOW YARD??? omg! I'd have had mine out FAST!

You should expect people who are paid to give you the run-around.

My U-Haul broke down in northern Cali...and I got paid for

1. The Workers' labour to change the contents from that truck to another one (tell your workers NOT to provide the insurance people with any information on them (name, address, bank, social #,,, ---that YOU'll pay them, and then tell the insurance claims ppl to send YOU the money and you'll pay the workers.
2. Food and motel I'd had to use while all this was happening...and to wait while they got me another truck;
3. Loss (damage) of items IN the collision;

Read the insurance...usually it says the insurance pays for whatever your insurance doesn't cover...but, if you weren't at fault (and it wasn't a questionable collision)...then THEY have to 'cough-up'!

I even got their insurance adjuster to pay the motel rooms for the worker's because I insisted on workers I knew...and they had to drive a long ways.
Plus, I even got them to pay for a massage therapist for me, because I was so stressed-out.

I can't figure out how U-Hall is still in business---there is so much crookedness in that company; I never woulf have the slightest problem filing a claim with them...ESPECIALLY when you deserve to be compensated.

U-Haul's Safemove insurance will cover what was in their property, i.e. the trailer. Anything in the towing vehicle, unless it was a U-Haul truck, is not covered.

If you have homeowners or renter's insurance that was in force at the time, it may cover what was in the truck, as well as anything in the trailer that U-Haul does not cover. Your truck's insurance policy may cover part of the damage to the property in the truck but they usually limit that coverage.

After an accident or other loss, you do have a responsibility to protect your property against further loss. If you left it on the side of the road, you would not be able to claim from any insurance any loss that occurred while it sat there.

However, if the vehicle was in a secure tow lot -- and most states require that tow lots be secure -- that should meet the requirement to protect your property from further damage so the claim would be valid.

i believe it depends on what type of insurance you bought. if you bought a collision damage waiver...it's probably only going to cover the damage to teh vehicle & they won't come after you for it...i will be surprised if they cover your contents in the truck because those were under your control & responsibility. i don't think they would carry any liability on that unless there was some fault with their truck. good luck!
