Isn't it slick how Obama blames the high costs on the insurance companies but doesn't even mention the costs of doctors protecting themselves from the shark lawyer ambulance chasers?
How can you take Obama seriously when he ignores a HUGE issue like malpractice insurance? Isnt this proof he is NOT looking to lower costs for the average American and wants to make sure trial lawyers are well fed on our dollars?

The malpractice insurance that doctors have to pay for is so increadibly expensive it increases their required pay, and the fees for procedures and in short, everything in healthcare.
the malpractice insurance is expensive because everyone with a minor claim sues for millions of dollars.
With TORT reform malpractice insurance would be more affordable and in turn healthcare would be cheaper and then of course healthcare insurance would be cheaper.
but instead BO just wants to buy another government program and not address some of the major problems.

you can control the doctors by punishing them if they actually screw up, right now it is their insurance premiums that are punished, and the increased cost is passed to the patients.

Trial lawyers do have a role in keeping doctors in check. This is a sensitive issue. If you control trial lawyers too much, doctors (some of them) can go crazy. If you don't, then doctors will feel strapped.

The cost of medical insurance is the fault of insurance companies, not lawyers.
Judgment awards are granted by juries of common citizens, not lawyers..
Doctors need to be held accountable for their actions the same as anyone else.
Limit the percentage of the judgment that a lawyer can take, but not the amount of the award.
Amputating the wrong leg then needing to amputate the proper one should not have a judgment limit.
