Vice President Chaney's chief of staff Lewis Libby was rightfully convicted by a jury of his peers ... he more than anyone ever had amply funds donated to support his legal defense ... Although a lawyers and well aware of what he did he was simply found to be beyond any reasonable doubt to have had absolutely no restraint in lying to the American public, a US Grand Jury and even continued to perjure himself under oath.
This guy is a complete scumball a man totally without morals, ethics or a human conscience. The why he lied was obviously to win the 2004 Presidentual Election by putting off the questions he was asked to lie about. This guy subverted our election process and is waiting for the President to pardon him and then make some millions in kick backs from neo cons in speaking fees.
This untouchable class of politicians and business folk that can release the names of our service people in time of war for political purposes.
When does this lack of accountability stop!!

To answer your question, this lack of accountability will stop when we stop basing our outrage on partisanship and start basing it on citizenship

First of all, what the heck does your question have to do with "the media?" And secondly, the fact that he was given a fair trial, found guilty, AND convicted means that there was TOTAL accountability, not a lack of it, as you claim. What more should they do? Hang him for lying to the FBI? And no one has pardoned him yet, nor have I heard that a pardon is imminent
If you want to talk about lack of accountability, let's start discussing why Nancy Pelosi put William Jefferson on the Homeland Security Committee when he was found with 90k in bribe money hiding in his freezer! Or the unconscionable pardons that Clinton gave in his last few days on the job? Or Sandy "Burglar" stealing and destroying documents that proved Clinton fell asleep on the job with respect to Bin Laden?

If I understand you right, you feel the media should have covered this whole thing from a different perspective. The fact is that when this whole story came out, many suspected Cheney of being at the root of it all and that was what was discovered in Libby's trial.
Cheney had a strong reaction to Wilson's trip to Niger which turned much of the nation against the Iraq war. That was the propellant that eventually caused the Republicans to lose the majority in the house and senate in 2006.
The Bush administration has totally lost their credibility. It is the opinion of most that Libby is the fall guy here. I wonder how deep all of this really goes considering the fact that Libby could have spilled the beans about this and possibly "saved" himself.
Transparency is completely lacking in this administration which can only result in suspicion.
Give the Democrats some time here. There may be some accountability coming up soon that will renew our confidence in our government and restore our country to what it was 6 years ago. Not perfect then either, but much better than what we've had for a while.
