I worked at a law firm for only 2 weeks to gain experience and the admin staff and HR manager were all nice and smiley. But I also shadowed about 3 solicitors and when I smiled at them they never even smiled back dont get me wrong they were lovely to me but I cant remember any of them smilling. They all looked miserable and serious.

Plus , my aunty said to me from experience that lawyers never smile.
I mean I was new to the firm from college and was extremely nervous they could`ve atleast tried smiling.

When you are trying to keep track of all of the fibs you have told, it's hard to smile.

Lawyers DO smile, as much as anyone.

I think lawyers probably would smile more if they were trained properly to do what they are supposed to do. And that's to arrive at THE TRUTH in a trial. Unfortunately, prosecutors are only concerned with "getting a conviction" and defendants are only interested in "getting their client off."
But neither of these are the true goal of a trial. The TRUE goal of a trial is to exact the truth and ascertain a defendant's guilt or innocence. That's what I think, anyway.
