The vast majority of lawyers don't work in courtrooms very much. Over 95% of civil cases get settled, so they don't go to trial. Most large law firms have tons of worker bee associates who never go to court. You can have a very good practice without ever setting foot in a court.
Real estate attorneys, contract attorneys, transactional attorneys, etc never go to court. In truth, only litigators and trial attorneys spend much time in court at all.

Corporate law and Right of Way Law (Employed by Utilities), Collections, or you could work for West Law in MN where people with law degree's answers student's questions on WestLaw and seek to collect fees for WestLaw from newly graduated law students.
With a law degree you do not have to practise law --- you could work for ACORN, sell your soul to Geo. Soros and get elected in IL, MN, or OH and who knows what could come of that.
