I answered the door the other day and it was a solicitor. He made me feel really uncomfortable when I choose not to help him out. I do not think they should be aloud to go door to door. It is not safe. I did not want to be mean. What are your thoughts?

Freedom is no longer an attractive element of life.
Security and peace have overcome such, and soon, we will dispense with all remaining liberties.
Life is meant to be free of any and all inconveniences. Proof of this fundamental fact is readily found in any advertisement.
I hope you will begin a campaign to erase all opportunities for free association, contact from stranger-to-customer and other unneeded connections.
When automated responses and perfect harmony, (thanks to technology) are ever present, we will at last live in an ideal society.
Nothing good whatsoever has ever been sold or offered by way of salesmen, and the sooner all forms of such marketplace conveyances are eliminated, the better for each of us.
I have removed my doorbell, and upon my front door is a plaque which reads: DO NOT KNOCK. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE.
My life is serene and uninterrupted, and I heartily recommend the same for everyone.
Thank you for your question, as it will ensure that fewer and fewer future human contacts will be possible.

Please remember what your parents told you as a little child. DON'T OPEN THE DOOR FOR STRANGERS! Just because you are older, that advice has not lost its value. Many Home Invasion burglars, rapists, and killers pose as door to door solicitors. Even if they don't act immediately, they may be just observing to see how many people are home, do you have any weapons, do you have a dog, do you have an alarm system, etc.

Learn to be mean. People who go door to door can be dangerous. Do not even open the door. Their right to bother you stops where your front door starts. Be safe and do not open your door to strangers.

I don't like them nor trust them. There are a bunch of teenagers scamming people with magazines going around. Be careful.

they gotta make a living but i hate em as well. dont feel guilty for not giving them the time, if they had called to set up an apointment then maybe they wouldnt get such "rude"(as they would probably say) people.

I absolutely HATE it...never let them in and never buy from them...it got so bad in my old neighborhood that I posted a sign on the door that said "No Solicitors" and they STILL knocked!!! Finally one of the neighbors called the police on them...helped somewhat...I also can not stand sales calls...those calls are the only reason I got caller ID. Home is for rest and relaxation...not for being bothered by folks trying to sell you worthless junk.

I'm totall with you. I understand that they need to work, too, but I hate to have them come to the door, I feel really unsafe. I've read on the news where men will masquerade as a door to door salesperson and hurt the homeowners. So now, I look through the window by the door and politely say, "no thank you, I'm not interested". One time I did that and the guy says, "can you just open the door so we can speak?" I said, "no, I'm sorry, I can't do that". He walks away in a huff and says, "I'm not some axe murderer". And, I'm thinking, "yeah right, if you were, would you be telling me this?"
