I have a friend that is one. From what I know he interned first and then was hired in. He has never worked in the private sector. So I would try to start by interning and good for - a law school graduate! Awesome!

If you mean a District Attorney or a Public Defender's office, then no. You can intern there after graduation (after taking the bar) - most will offer you a job as a Deputy DA or Deputy PD, conditional upon passing the bar exam.

For other government attorney jobs - depends on who you know really. I heard of someone who got to the second round of interviews (and got the job) when this person wasn't even on the list for first rounds of interviews (so there was no one to compare this person too to have him/her kicked out in the first round)....this is because he/she interned for free and then supposedly bought this really expensive "thank you" gift for the supervisor. Identities/genders are non-specific to protect people *lol*
