You can certainly hire an attorney if you want, but you'll get your money a LOT faster and you won't have to give 1/3 of it away if you just deal with the truck driver's insurer directly.
If you provide receipts of actual expenses and keep your non-economic loss requests reasonable you may find the insuer doesn't fight it as much as if you are represented and make unreasonable demands.
