US army medical waiver?

I was recently discharged from Fort Benning when it was discovered that I had arrived there with a stress fracture that I never told M.E.P.S. about. The injury was substained from heavy training that my body wasn't used to in order to fully prepare for basic. I went from not running in years to being able to run 3.5 miles in two weeks. It was discovered later that my injury was a stress fracture to my calcaneal bone in my left foot.

My file was placed in the EPTS category and I was given a straight up re code of three. The doctor there told me that I could attempt to re-enlist within six months but only with a waiver.

Now I've done my research and I know that times are tough. When I was down there during their "summer rush", it was relatively slow from what I was told. They still brought in new recruits but not to the level of past summers.

What I want to know is that based on the current economic state of our country, is there a chance that I might be granted a waiver since my condition is relatively minor? I understand waivers for stuff like kidney failure/re-configured bones (with screws, etc)/asthma/other major medical conditions would probably be disqualified since the army is so "stuffed-up" with personal. Perhaps I might have a chance because I'm taking the precautions (resting, wearing proper footwear, injesting both a one-a-day and calcium supplement pills) where my foot should properly heal by then. I'm being hopeful.

I also read online about something in regards to the army's fiscal new year starting in October and how that might bring upon the need for more new recruits.

I address this to recruiters who know the game or anyone else with the knowledge to help alleviate my fears and that my "call of duty" will have to be ignored and that I will be forced to look for a civilian job.

I left as an E-4 specialist with hopes of being and 11b airborne ranger. I was excited (still am) to be able to do something so honorable.

I'm just looking to fill in the gaps from those who might know more information because I've just about exhausted my search online and would like to know some facts pertaining to my particular injury.

thanks.
