I am a photographer and did a wedding for a couple a few weeks back. No more than a day after receiving the photos the Bride begun to complain. She had complained that she looked "fat" in her photos.. Her second complaint was she didn't get all her pictures and her third complaint is that she just don't like her photos... Each time she complains she demands a refund. In the Contract is states specifically NO REFUNDS because the fee was charged for labor only.
and yet she insists. We held up our end of the contract fully and now she is trying to take me to court. I am really worried because I have never dealt with courts before and I am a new business owner. I don't want to get a bad name for myself and I can't afford to give her a refund because business is really slow. She says that she is going to take me to court and get more money than the actual cost I charged her and the cost to hire another photographer to re-stage the photos. Which there is no reason to do cause her photos are nice!! I think she just wants her money back. What should I do? Is it probable that she will win the case?

If she signed something with the NO REFUNDS on it your golden, if not you might want to cut your losses.

If your facts are straight, you will win hands down. The bride has something called "buyer's remorse."

No worries; stick to your guns

If you have a signed contract.
The photos are as you said they would be. (You cannot help it if she's fat.)
If you delivered the amount of time and the number of photos you said you would.....

She has got no leg to stand on. She cannot charge you because she wants new pictures.

I doubt you have anything to worry about. You provided a service, she received the service, and your transaction is complete. Let her threaten all she wants. You may want to offer some sort of a partial refund for business purposes (ie, good word of mouth), but I don't see that any court is going to rule in her favor. Don't lose any sleep over it.

WEll as a new small business owner, welcome to the world of dippy customers. Won't be your last.

You're kind of dammed if you do or dammed if you don't. But I'd get the phone book and begin a working relationship with a recommended lawyer who works at a fair rate.

She probably won't win; but can you bet a lawyer's fee on it?
