I'm sorry to hear about your problem. But, most likely, when you hear of something that's too good to be true, it usually is. I think most people are learning that, simply from all these stories being posted. I don't think there's really anything else you can do about it, besides make it public. It's too hard to find people and prosecute them.

I don't know what yahoo can do but I think that one way to arm yourself is to make a mental note that any lottery or organization that claims you've won something but they need money from you for what ever reason they give you i.e like tax, shippping, or other reasons they can come up with to extort money from you is a scam. No lottery will do that. As a rule of thumb, no real or true winnings from a legit organization will extort money from you yourself as the winner...if anything taxes and what not would be deducted from your winnings. I get these letters too saying they are ministers of some sort of country and I have one something or that they have inheritted some money and they want to share it with me...for all I know I never entered any contest nor do I even know or heard of this minister and I don't fall for it. I'm sorry this happened to you and it happens to a lot of people. I think it safe to say that we all get excitted when we hear we've won something and we want to believe it, but before you really get in to it, listen to yourself, ask yourself a question, somehow we all have this gut instinct inside of us that we have to pay attention and unfortunately we don't listen to enought. I think that at somepoint, there was that voice that was telling you to stop but you didn't question it. We all have this...try to tap into this next time and listen to that voice. Once again I'm sorry this happened to you and it does happened to a lot of people. If anything else, take this as a learning experience and you are turning this into something possitive by giving us all a warning here so that it doesn't happened to us...for that thank you for spreading this word and warning us, as we all can be mislead.

I am so sorry that you lost money to these thieves. I answer so many questions regarding fake lotteries and I always direct the questionnaire to the link below for a comprehensive list of email scams, but most importantly how to report them. I suggest you click on the link below and report it :

Actually you can report it but there is not a lot Yahoo can do about these scams. The messages come from computers which are taken over by hackers and used for this purpose. It is almost impossible to catch these people. The main thing is for us to be careful not to fall for their scams. Don't answer just delete them Good luck and be careful.
