My son was injured, never missed work, but received a settlement for the injury. Will he get a 1099 or is it part of his W-2

Answer by taxreff
Workers compensation payments are not taxable.

check with your state's labor board. Or check with the Workers Compenstation office of his job.

He will get neither. That is an insurance settlement and is non-taxable. The settlement will probably be for loss of future earnings based on a percentage of permanent disability of whatever part of him was injured.
